Dan Belson

Reporter

I’m a reporter at The Daily Record covering legal affairs throughout the state of Maryland. Prior to the Record, I covered public safety, courts and general assignment for The Baltimore Sun.

I’ve been reporting in Maryland for more than six years. I’ve covered complex civil litigation, messy business disputes, police misconduct, plane crashes, gun violence, incustody deaths, and the Justice Department. I’ve also written concert reviews, broken down ethical concerns about genetic privacy, sought answers about firearms and domestic abuse, and investigated failures in Baltimore’s emergency communications system.

I also previously worked as the editor of The Dundalk Eagle and as a staff reporter for The Capital and Southern Maryland News. I graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland in 2019 with a major in public policy and minors in computer science, women, gender and sexuality studies, and Asian studies.
